American Country Singer/Songwriter: Brad Paisley
Brad Paisley was born October 28, 1972 and is from Glen Dale, West Virginia. Brad Paisley is one of today's top American country singers. His voice is easily recognized and his talent is abundant.
Brad's grandfather gave him his first guitar at the age of 8 and by 10 years old, Brad could accompany himself while singing. His grandfather was a great influence for Brad's love of the guitar and music.
Brad wrote his first song at the age of 12. He also sang for several community events and in church. His first band was called "Brad Paisley and the C-Notes". Brad was invited to play on West Virginia's Wheeling station WWVA on the Saturday night Jamboree USA. He was well liked and in later years opened for Little Jimmy Dickens, Roy Clark and the Judds.
After high school, Brad enrolled nearby at West Liberty College, but was encouraged to move to Nashville and transfer to Belmont University. He resisted, as he wanted to stay closed to home, but decided to give it a try. He loved Nashville and liked what he saw and was experiencing.
Brad started out making demos and caught the attention of Arista. He made the right connections and the rest is history.
Brad's Paisley's first solo album was in 1999 title, "Who Needs Pictures" and his first single was "He Didn't Have to Be". This debut album went platinum. Brad has won multiple country music awards and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on Feb. 17, 2001.
Brad has performed duets with some of the top country female artists such as Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton and Chely Wright. He's come a long way from an 8 year old boy with a passion for music to a top name on the country charts.
Brad has a beautiful voice and sings from the heart and the soul. His roots lie in the heart of West Virginia and as a West Virginia native myself, that makes me even more proud.
