Those of you who are freshman in college are just getting a taste of college life and tests and are not sure how to handle it.  College tests are not like easy high school tests.  In my experience, high school is nothing but a social experience.  The real education begins in college.

College is full of tests and quizzes.  How do you study for a test with about one-hundred terms and definitions?  One thing that helped me in passing these tests is typing all the terms in Microsoft Word and printing them out.  Read the terms over and over again.  After you think that you have these terms and definitions down, grab a friend and ask him/her if they can help you study.  After all, what are college buddies for?  Another way that really helps those visual learners like me is to write all the terms down on flash cards.  Write the term on one side and the definition on the other side.  This is another time you can get a friend to help you study.  All they have to do is hold up the card and you read what it says on the other side.  After you think you have mastered and learned everything, mix the cards up.  Mix them up where one is showing you the term, and the other is showing you the definition and you have to match it to the correct term.

Like I said, college is not like high school.  In high school you can spend about an hour on a subject and do great on the test.  In college, well, there is a reason college classes give you two weeks notice on the next test.  You need to spend your time productively when it comes to studying.  You cannot just spend a few days on it and expect to do well.  If you think that you are able to do this, you will shortly find out that you are wrong.

Takeaways
  • High school was a nothing but a social experience.
  • Do not Cram.
  • Learn instead of Memorizing.
