Taking a Closer Look at the Popular Wrestling League

ECW, or the Eastern Championship Wrestling, began operation in 1992 in Philadelphia, with many shows in the area, as Eastern To Extreme (ETE). It was later renamed to ECW in August on 1994. Paul Heyman owned and operated all wrestling matches from 1996 to 2001, and Tom Gordon preceded him
 from 1992 to 1996. In 1997 ECW spread to � Pay Per View � TV shows hosting matches live.

On April 11th 2001 Eastern Championship Wrestling officially killed itself by declaring bankruptcy. ECW stars started to appear on WWF television in SMACKDOWN! And RAW. HHG Corp., the parent organization of ECW filed a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy form. It was later recreated in Atlanta, GA on World Wrestling Foundation's "RAW IS WAR". ECW's Lance Storm and WWF's Mike Awesome and Chris Jericho fought a tag match that day ECW was reborn.

The Wrestlers:

Jerry "The King" Lawler is one of the most loved and hated men in pro wrestling at the same time. Memphis, TN is Jerry's hometown where he's a famous hero. On the other hand, he is hated in the WWF for getting into a fight with former WWF champ Bret Hart and federation head Vince McMahon. "The King" owned his own radio show, and a TV show, The Jerry Lawler Show which was on air every Sunday morning. Besides professional wrestling, he's also a commercial artist. Jerry's work is displayed on many commercial sites throughout his hometown. In August of 1992 Lawler's door to WWF was open when Brett Hart said that he would defend his title against Jeff Jerrett. His negative attitude towards the rules of the WWF enraged may World Wrestling Foundation's fans worlfwide. The King is now wrestling for MCW - Memphis Championship Wrestling.
