Applying Venetian Plaster is easy and convenient. It can add a little pizazz to dull and boring plain white walls. White walls are boring and do not add detail to your existing furniture and accessories. Not only does venetian plaster brings texture and color, it provides a soothing environment. Here is a guide on how to apply venetian plaster to your walls.Go out and by yourself a can of paint. The plaster is thick in mixture and has a color of lime. The plaster is very thick, so you will need a trowel to get it out of the can. If you are trying to apply a uniform color, use a single color. The most popular coatings are made of a mixture of colors, but if this is your first time and you don't want to make a mess, stick with one color.
After you select the color, scoop a bit of the plaster from the can using the trowel. (Tip: If the end of the trowel is sharp, make sure to sand them down so you will not scrape the plaster while applying it).
The best place to start to plaster is the corner. On the wall in one direction, using the trowel, glide the plaster onto the wall. Between each stroke, leave a small space. After fifteen minutes of swiping, return to your original position and smooth the plaster. This is to cover the spaces that were left from the beginning. Allow plaster to dry for four hours.
Now, it time for the second coat. You will repeat the process using fifteen swipes. Return to your original position and smooth the plaster, just like before. This coat will only need 24 hours to dry because the second coating is layered.
Now you will use applying the finishing layer. For extra protection, use a topcoat to seal it. The finishing layer will be shiny and have an extra finish look. You will apply this sheen look with a trowel, as you have been using, because you don't want to create uneven or air bubbles.
