Are you thinking about getting rid of the white walls in your home? Not only is color in, but it can drastically change any room in your house. For some people, choosing color schemes for the rooms in your home may seem overwhelming, especially if you have always stuck with plain, white walls. Here are just a few of the different color schemes for decorating a home that you may want to take into consideration.

Blue and Brown

One of the color schemes for decorating a home that you may want to take into consideration is blue and brown. Keep in mind that you can choose from various shades of both blue and brown. It usually looks best to make blue the primary color of the walls and incorporate brown accents, furniture and accessories. Since blue is very relaxing and the right shade can brighten up any room, a blue and brown color scheme will work in almost any room of your house. If you are planning to make blue and brown a color scheme for the bedroom or bathroom, you may also want to consider adding a beach theme to it. If you want a lighter color than brown, consider opting for a blue and white color scheme instead.

Green and Purple

You also may want to consider decorating your home in a green and purple color scheme. There are two great ways to decorate a room in this color scheme. Either paint two walls green and the other two purple or choose one of the colors to paint all of the walls and then use the other for accents, accessories and furniture. Green and purple is one of the color schemes for decorating a home that can go in pretty much any room. However, keep in mind that you should consider what shades of purple you are planning to choose. Lighter shades will offer a brighter appearance, while darker shades will provide a bolder look. If you don't want your living room or bathroom to be very dark, opt for lighter colors. If you are interested in having a theme, consider either flowers or grapes.

I love the combo of teal blue and chocolate brown. I did my bathroom these colors in my old apartment and used lime green accessories as an accent.

These are some interesting colour schemes, Jody. But out of all the ones you suggested, I prefer sandy brown and white. Sophie

What a coincidence, I just mentioned yesterday adding a brown wall next to my blue wall. My son thought I was crazy. Thanks for the article!

Blue and brown is one of my favorite combos! Maybe it will look dated someday but I find it makes me feel soothed and grounded - in the best ways. I love that combo and so many of your other suggestions.

Great tips. Like Kay, I like blue and brown together, but strangely, I don't have that combo anywhere in my house. Hmmm, time to update a room? :-)
