The Life of a Wii Fit Addict
Embed:
I received my Wii Fit three days ago and I am already addicted. For most people this may not be a big deal but for me it is huge. This is something that combines my least two favorite activities, exercise and playing video games. I got my Wii because I felt that it sounded like a fun toy, but for the 6 months I have had it, I have only turned it on a handful of times. Now with my new Wii Fit Board, I am a different man. The Toughest Part is Turning it Off
When I first got my Wii Fit I set a goal to workout 30min per day. Over the past three days I have been doing a great job. The current problem is that when I hit the 30mins I want to keep on playing. It isn't that I feel I need to workout more it is that I would like to see what else I can do. I want to get that red dot to sit perfectly still or see how many times I can spin the hula-hoop. It is easy to keep track of your personal best with the top scores on each game. It brings my competition out because I want to do at least a little better than I did last time.
Daily Tracking
The Daily tracking system is a great motivator for me to workout everyday. By making it effortless to track my workout, I can see when I workout and what I did. Just seeing the user-friendly graphs tracking my progress, has me longing to see a positive trend.
Talking Wii Fit Board
The talking Wii Fit Board is a great touch. This feature keeps track of the time of day and my progress. This makes me feel like the machine actually knows what is going on. It makes me feel as if there is someone who cares about what I do on a daily basis.
Is It a Workout
My real question is if this is an actual workout? It seems to get my heart rate up but it doesn't give me a real plan on what I should be doing on a daily basis. It would be nice if Wii Fit would design a personalized workout for me to follow each day. I would really enjoy if the program would say now I would like you to do __________ for this many reps. Maybe they will put this in version 2.
Will I Ever Graduate From a Video Game?
