The Chinese place a lot of importance on the number 8 in their culture. For the 2008 Olympics, the Chinese picked the date and the starting time for the opening ceremony to be on 08/08/08 and beginning at 08:08 P. M.

In Numerology, the number 8 represents either material success or failure depending on the path one is on. It is a strong number for Karma and the ego. It can be honorable or abusive and corruptive.
