How to Make Your Own Flower Basket and Improve Home Decor

Decorate your home with a flower basket for a cheap way to liven up your living area. You will save so much money with this you may want to make more than one. You can make a flower basket with real flowers or fake ones. The fake ones last a lot longer and do not need to be watered.  You can find all of the items you need at your local craft supply store or a big chain store like Michael's or A. C. Moore. The cost won't hurt your wallet and your living area will be spruced up cheaply with this home décor.

CREATING AN INDOOR FLOWER BASKET (using silk flower stems)

Materials:

Basket- This can be any size you wish but if it is your first project start small so you are not overwhelmed. Small flower baskets look great on end tables. Medium sized baskets are better for centerpieces on dining tables.

Soft Green Foam- This can be found in near the flower stem section of your local craft store. It comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. The soft kind is easy to poke the stem of flowers into. Get a size that fits neatly and tightly into the basket. If you get to big of a size just cut it down to size. Do this over newspaper as your home will get messy if you don't.

Silk Flower Stems- Get the ones that are medium in stem length. The long ones do not do well in flower baskets. Try a multitude of different flowers. You can go with exotic, spring like or pick just one kind of flower. Get the flowers that will look great in your living area. If you have home decorations of tulips on your wall then you may want to go with tulips in your arrangement.

Once you gather your materials you are on your way to making a great piece of home décor.

Step 1-
Take your basket and place it over newspaper. This is very important if you want to avoid problems in the next step.

Step 2-
Place the soft green foam so that it fits tightly into the basket. This is important so your stems stay put. If the foam wiggles around so will your flowers. Cut down the foam so that you cannot see it without looking into the basket.
