The biopic is a dependable route to Oscar gold in Hollywood. The sheer number of actors who have won an Oscar playing real life people is enough to gag an elephant's trunk. Of course, not all biopics are equal; some are entirely fictional such as the Tony Curtis movie about Houdini, while others are a bit more true to life. There are a fairly decent number of biopics available on Netflix instant viewing for streaming to your TV via the Roku device and the amount of truth and authenticity varies wildly. But if you are watching a biographical movie to take the place of reading a well-researched biography then you probably don't care whether the movie is complete fiction or not. This is just a saga now.

Bonnie & Clyde.
Although there is much in Bonnie & Clyde that is true, the undeniable fact is that neither Bonnie nor Clyde were actually the romantic lovers as portrayed in this highly esteemed film. In fact, Bonnie and Clyde were sociopathic killers, not the Robin and Marian of the Dust Bowl. If you get a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach as you realize you are enjoying Bonnie & Clyde, don't despair. That nausea simply means you are more intelligent that all those people who bought into the romanticizing of these thugs. Slap yourself on the back and proceed to enjoy the infamous death scene.

Tucker: The Man and His Dream.
Add this one to your Netflix instant viewing queue to Roku on a night when there is nothing worth watching on TV. In other words, any night other than Sunday, and Sunday as well when Fox is showing yet another meaningless baseball postseason game or football. Tucker: The Man and His Dream is Francis Coppola's story about the forgotten man of the automobile industry. The Tucker car was way ahead of it time and there was no way in hell that the bigger automobile companies were going to let a vehicle that surpassed them in every way become popular.
