After the Democratic victory for the House of Represenatives, the very first female Speaker of the House is most likely to be Nancy Pelosi. With John Webb likely to win the Virginia senate seat, the democrats will take over the Senate. Whispers of subpeonas regarding events that led America into war with Iraq are beginning to surface in the media and around Washington D.C. With Nancy Pelosi second in line for presidency, right behind Vice President Cheney would she become Madame President?

Critics of the Democratic Party claim when the democrats take over in January, their first agenda will be to impeach President Bush and his staff. It is not known if the democratic House majority will pursue impeachment charges against President Bush and Vice President Cheney, however, Nancy Pelosi has said their will be an investigation into the events that led to the Iraq war. Many democrats are also asking for investigations into the unwarranted wiretaps and the allegations of torture. However, Nancy Pelosi has insisted the democrats are not out for revenge and are willing to work with the President and republicans to find stability and a safer America. With Donald Rumsfield’s resignation November 8, it seems the President Bush is getting the message the American people sent this election 2006.

Nancy Pelosi, amongst other Democrats ran based on a need for a new direction in America, claiming that “staying the course” is not working. Nancy Pelosi says she will not cut spending in Iraq, despite critics’ claim that the democrats will “cut and run”. As Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, insists on “getting the American people ahead”, according to an interview with the CNN’s The Situation Room, which includes creating a strategy for the war in Iraq. Her priorities also include the need for Congress to become fiscally responsible by creating a balanced budget and cut spending.

This is a joke, right? No one in their right mind would consider a traitor and liar like Pelosi as president. Being president takes courage and poise to do what is right. President Bush is doing what is right, something Pelosi does not have. She will be a female version of Jimmy Carter. What would be interesting is if Hillary Clinton wins the presidential DNC nomination for president and chooses Pelosi as her running mate. I would see her losing ever state as the American people will vote "their common senses".

That's just a great bi-partisan attitude...rooting for things to go bad...very citizenlike of you both..sorry to say, but we will move the country in the right direction, and conservatives will not have either house for the forseeable future...(my personal prediction) And the biggest real threat to the world (as recognized by most of the world) currently resides in the White House...

I shudder with dread to think of Nancy Pelosi being 2 heartbeats away from the presidency. I think Bush has done a pretty decent job. I applaud our going to Iraq & feel we need to stay there until their "democratic" gov't. is safely in place - no matter, 1 year or 20 years. I just wish more other nations would join us. I have to agree, much as I dread the change, it will be interesting to see what "messes" the Demos will conjur up over the next couple of years.

Ms. Pelosi will be a fine speaker. She has already shown far more deocrum than either of the previous two...and she knows that she needs to build consensus across the country...that said, investigations will be coming. And the idiotic rants of those like "Grapezone" will become less and less influential. Hell, even Rush Limbaugh had an epiphany.

I believe Nancy Pelosi will be a great Speaker of the House and bring much need bipartisanship to Washington D.C. There are too many important issues at hand for the Democrats and Republicans to be bickering back and forth.

Bush has been caught in so many lies and "waiting" you are calling the Dem's liars? that isn't logical based on the facts.

Most of the Democrats elected in the sweep across America were moderates or conservatives in comparison with leaders like Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy. The Democrats will exhibit more discipline with their committee chairmanships than many people think, with a bigger "tent" of ideological positions than the largely conservative Congressional Republicans. Don't count on Pelosi, Reid, and others being stalwart against Bush at every turn because they need to prove their ability to compromise and get things done ahead of the 2008 presidential election.
