Los Angeles, CA, June 27, 2008 - Verne Troyer, best known for playing Mini Me in the Austin Powers movies, filed a lawsuit in federal court against TMZ.com for releasing a snippet of a private sex tape that was stolen from his residence, according to the Los Angeles Times. Verne Troyer is claiming that TMZ's release of the clip from the sex tape depicting him having sex with then girlfriend Renae Schrider, violates his privacy.

The federal court issued a temporary restraining order against TMZ requiring them to remove the clip from the Renae Schrider and Verne Troyer sex tape, also being called the Mini Me sex tape. TMZ has complied with the request, but that has not stopped the video clip of Verne Troyer and Renae Schrider from going viral.

Verne Troyer Sex Tape: Privacy and Copyright Infringement

According to the lawsuit filed by Verne Troyer and his attorneys, TMZ invaded Troyer's privacy and infringed on copyright, by publishing a snippet of the sex tape of Renae Schrider and Verne Troyer on its TMZ.com web site.

He also claims in his lawsuit that any sale of that tape to Kevn Blatt, the man behind the selling of the Paris Hilton sex tape, would be a copyright violation. Verne Troyer also claims the tape of him having sex with his then-girlfriend, Renae Schrider, was stolen from his house.

There is no mention of it in the lawsuit or the press, but as non-public figure, Renae Schrider is also entitled to privacy.

TMZ has complied with the request and the TMZ.com web site page with the sex tape clip of Verne Troyer and Renae Schrider has been replaced by a story about the lawsuit.

The actor, Verne Troyer, who can be seen with Mike Meyer's in The Love Guru, does not deny it is him in the sex tape. He does acknowledge that the tape is his, and it is of him and a former girlfriend, Renae Schrider. He also says in his lawsuit that the tape of Renae Schrider was meant to be private, according to the Los Angeles Times.
