Personality is as unique as a fingerprint. No one has the exact same personality traits. Differences in upbringing, environment, personal experiences and genetics all play roles in shaping one's personality traits. However, there are four distinct groupings of personalities: Dove, Eagle, Peacock, and Owl.

Think about that for a moment. What personality traits do each of these birds have? Which personality bird are you?

Personality Test: The Dove Personality Traits

The dove is the symbol for peace. Therefore, a person with a dove personality is typically easy-going and friendly. A dove is a people-pleaser and a team-player. A dove is loyal and hard-working, but tends to avoid conflict and confrontation. A dove likes to play it safe and doesn't like taking risks. Often, a dove would rather go with the flow than to be assertive in his or her needs. Typically, a dove has a submissive personality. A dove is a tenderheart and tends to think with emotions.

Personality Test: The Eagle Personality Traits

The eagle is a noble hunter. An aggressive bird, the eagle knows what it wants and takes it. A person with the personality traits of an eagle is bold and dominant. An eagle is highly analytical and decisive. He or she can be stubborn and insensitive to others' needs. An eagle tends to be self-centered and narrow-minded, losing track of the 'bigger picture'. Where a dove rules with emotions, an eagle can sometimes come across as being devoid of emotion.

Personality Test: The Peacock Personality Traits

The peacock is a showy bird, with its bright colors and beautiful tail feathers. It struts around, flashing those feathers to attract the females. Thus, it's not hard to imagine that a person with the personality traits of a peacock is someone who adores attention. A peacock loves to be noticed. He or she is gregarious and talkative. A peacock sparkles and is the life of the party. However, the peacock can come across as cocky and irresponsible. A peacock is generally not great with time management or dealing with details.

Personality Test: The Owl Personality Traits

Takeaways
  • Forget about the Type A and B personality tests. Test yourself: which bird are you?
Did You Know?
While it's true that birds of a feather flock together, it's not necessarily true with the personality birds. A dominant eagle may be the perfect mate for the submissive dove. The owl may lend some balance to the flashy peacock.

How fun. I guess I am very "flighty." I see myself in more than one of these.

Thanks for simply reinforcing my thought that I have multiple personalities :-)

Interesting but I hope you might agree, too oversimplified to be of much real application. Like horoscopes in the daily paper where there are 12 for all of humanity. Here, there are fewer yet. When I was in graduate school, we wore buttons saying "Label Jars, Not People." Even for fun, the process is a risky one as we all have individually sized and shaped 'boxes.' Thanks for the stimulating article. David

Hmmm...I would say I'm dominantly dove, with a little bit of eagle and at certain times peacock thrown in. I prefer peace in my life and don't like drama (dove), but if I see something I want I tend to have tunnel vision in getting it (eagle). I don't consider myself vain (peacock), but I am very irresponsible with money and I am a horrible procrastinator, and those would seem to be peacock traits. I think I am far too impulsive to be an owl :) Interesting article.

Very nice article !............I am a combination of #1 Peacock, #2 the one that you haven't mentioned and I don't know what to name it, #3 Eagle, and #4 Dove. I do like to show off a little (in moderation, I think ! why not when I deserve the credit and recognition !); I am nice but if someone is mean to me for no apparent reason, I know how to fight back; I know what I want and try hard to get it; and at the end I am all for peace and don't hold grudge against anybody. If there is any misunderstanding, I prefer to sort it out and move on. I have a lot of friends because they know I don't have two sides, they get what they see.

Great article! I'm a dove in that I don't like conflict and I'm always the peacemaker. But I'm also an owl because I have a lot of perfectionist tendencies. Does that make me a dowl?

Laughing at TR's remark. Don't know which I am most of but I am least peacock and have some of all.

Uh, you left me out, since you didn't have a test for an old buzzard.

I think I have overlapping traits, an eager when hunting down bargains in the grocery store (as close to a "noble hunter" as I'm llkely to get...a peacock when dressing to impress...and a dove when we have a quiet day and no one left the clock radio out in the rain all night.
