2008 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings

Adrian Peterson to Rashard Mendenhall

The running back position has always been the key to winning any fantasy football title. More and more NFL teams have been going to a running back by committee, and this has had an effect on the running back position. I would consider taking a top running back in
the first round of your fantasy draft but after that go for the best value. Taking two running backs in the first two rounds has been the traditional fantasy advice for this position but with less value at the running back position, I would advice to go for value and possibly draft a wide receiver in the second round. Lets get to the rankings:

Fantasy Football Running Back ( RB) Rankings 2008

1. Adrian Peterson- Minnesota

To say Peterson made a splash in his rookie season is an understatement. He is the most explosive back that has come into the NFL in quite some time. I would take him number 1 over LT based on his potential. Expect him to improve on last seasons numbers. The Vikings have one of the best offensive lines in the league and need Peterson to get 20 plus carries every game to give them there best chance to win. Take Adrian Peterson as the top pick in your fantasy draft.

2. LaDainian Tomlinson- San Diego

Tomilinson proved to be Mr. Steady again last season with another great year. Draft Tomlinson second in your fantasy draft and expect another solid season of 2000 plus combined yards and 15-18 combined touchdowns.

3. Steven Jackson- St. Louis

The question with Jackson is always injuries. When he was healthy the second half of last season he was possibly the top running back in the league. He is explosive and can break some long touchdown runs that will lead to huge weeks. He also is a great receiver and should continue to figure prominently in the St. Louis passing attack.

4. Joseph Addai- Indianapolis

Addai came on as a top of the line fantasy runner last season. Consider him if you have the 4th or 5th pick in your fantasy draft this year. Addai is still very young and can move himself up this running back rankings with another great season. With defenses foucused on stopping Peyton Manning, the running lanes should remain wide open for Addai to run through.
