In this article Online Learning: Medical Billing and coding wrote buy Afa Ismayilova seems to miss inform some people of some key points. I wanted to express my personal experience with a medical billing and coding class.

I thought just like he states in the article. Job security was a sure thing. Well that could be very true if you can find a job. I was having a hard time locating a job so I looked into getting some schooling. I chose to go to a trade school and take their medical billing course. I thought this would be an easy job to find. Well eight grand later I would have to say I am not pleased. The class was a big joke. We did pretty much nothing most of the week and then had a huge test at the end. Needless to say I passed with flying colors as most who showed up did. After that it was time to complete my internship.

I was one of the lucky ones who got to go to a great place. I ended up at an EMS company. Everyone was there was really nice. Most of the time they just use the interns for free help. Thats kind of harsh to say but its the truth. I got great reviews from them when I was finished, and then of course the sad story if we had some spots to fill you would be it.

Now what to do. I finished everything. I have my degree for medical billing so now I start searching. This is where it all began. I either got told that they had no openings, I did not have enough experience and the worst one I got told a few times the school I went to was a joke. Several high places would tell me they hire no one who goes to these types of schools.

Takeaways
  • I wanted to express my personal experience with a medical billing and coding class
  • They said most of the time they only take people who have had experience.
  • Just make sure what ever you choose has been well thought out

What college did you go to? I am considering going to a local college for medical billing and coding. I am a little concerned though it's a 2 year course and it's only a diploma. Any comments would be great!

Hello, Afa! My name is Olga Ermakova and I think I am on the same page with you. I've also completed the same program and can't even find an internship. Before starting the program I had soo many promises. Now I'm so disappointed. Thank you for the article.

Thanks for the article. This is something I had considered. I take online classes at my college and LOVE them, but not every class should be taken online, some do not work well that way.
