2008 Washington Redskins NFC East Preview
The 2008 edition of the Washington Redskins should be an exciting thing to watch. The Redskins finished 9-7 last season, but didn't make any significant moves this offseason to upgrade their team. Instead, they lost both their offense and defensive coordinators
KEY ADDITIONS:
1) Devin Thomas - The rookie wide receiver out of Michigan State will be third on the depth chart this season, and will work out of the slot along side Randle El and Santanna Moss to start the season. Look for Thomas to move to the starting lineup later in the year, as his 6'2" frame is much better suited on the outside. This will allow Randle El to move back to the slot where his speedy 5'10" frame can be better utilized.
KEY LOSSES:
1) Al Saunders/Gregg Williams - Both major coordinators for the Redskins changed teams over the offseason, and the Redskins players on both sides of the ball will need to learn new philosophies. Saunders and Williams are some of the best in the business, and made more money each year than most head coaches.
2) Keenan McCardell - McCardell's career looks like it could come to completion as the 16 year veteran has not drawn interest from team's this offseason. The star will be remembered for his career in Jacksonville, where Mark Brunell was able to complete pass after pass to McCardell and Jimmy Smith. McCardells best season came in 2000 when he had 94 catches for 1207 yards and 5 touchdowns.
3) Mark Brunell - The former Brett Favre backup has now become a backup once again. While he is not getting any younger, Brunell has no problem spending the last couple years of his career helping mentor younger quarterbacks, and collecting a paycheck riding the pine. In his prime, the southpaw was one of the most accurate passers in the game, and broke Rich Gannon's record when he started a game by completing his first 22 passes.
4) Brandon Lloyd - The receiver dashes to Chicago and should be able to win a starting job in a very thin Chicago receiving corps. Although the former 49er never lived up to his potential, a chance to shine in Chicago could be on the horizon. If only he had someone to get him the ball.

- On outside looking in at the playoffs
- Adjusting to two new coordinators will be difficult
