Clint Eastwood appears in an MST3K movie, did you know that? The movie that is being riffed mercilessly by Mike, Crow and Servo is called Return of the Creature and it is a sequel to The Creature From the Black Lagoon. Oddly enough, Clint Eastwood was already a legend when he did the Ronald Reagan thing and co-starred with an ape. The modest origins of the career of Clint Eastwood should give a glimmer hope to any young actor in Hollywood today whose first role is in a movie with a title like Return of the Beach Party Zombie Bimbos, It Came from Uranus, or The Hobbit. If you would care to catch up on Clint Eastwood long storied career as both an actor and director, then buy yourself a Roku and use your Netflix subscription to revel in the fascism of Dirty Harry and the right-wing paranoia of Firefox. Alas, Eastwood's best movie ever, The Beguiled, is not available for instant viewing, but it is on Netflix so be sure to add it to your standard queue.

Letters from Iwo Jima.
Probably, it is safe to assume, Spike Lee will not be using his Roku to Netflix this movie to his TV set. The feud between Clint Eastwood and Spike Lee over the lack of black soldiers in Eastwood's World War II epic is silly, to say the least. Spike Lee was in the wrong to even address the non-issue, but Eastwood acted like a total jerk in response. I cannot comment on this film, since I haven't seen it, but why not Netflix it to your Roku to determine where you stand on the Eastwood/Lee feud.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
A more distasteful collection of southerners you would be hard press to find. If I were the city leaders of Savannah, Georgia, I'd sue Clint Eastwood. On the other hand, from what I understand, Clint Eastwood was actually being quite kind to the denizens of Savannah, so go figure. There is one very good reason to Netflix Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil to your Roku: Mr. Kevin Spacey. Is this man capable of giving a bad performance? Possibly in Superman Returns, but since I was not able to get past the first thirty minutes of that crapfest, I don't know.

"Unforgiven" completely changed the way I looked at Eastwood. Until that one, he never seemed anything more than Dirty Harry. Speaking of that one, it still holds up to this day.
