So the Supreme Court recently ruled that just about anyone can own a gun now. That's very, very frightening considering the types of people I've seen that have said they own a gun. Or two. Or three. Or a whole freaking arsenal. The people that I've heard talk about owning guns are ignorant, arrogant, and just a little bit twisted, and it's very scary to think that even more of these insecure idiots are going to go out and buy themselves a gun (or a few guns).

A recent article by Mike Stobbe of the Associated Press states that research has shown that half of gun deaths are suicides. That's pretty extreme considering the way Americans view gun ownership. They never stop to think that they may someday become depressed or drunk and not think enough about what they're doing and end their own life. Worse yet, a family member may be tempted to do the same to themselves knowing that a gun is around and easily accessible.

When a gun is in the home, the likelihood that the owner of that gun or one of their family members ends up dead because of it greatly increases. It's just a fact that everyone ignores. Not to mention that the fact that no one ever thinks that they aren't the only ones who can own guns now. This decision means that many, many other people can own guns, too, and they aren't all going to use them for self-protection.

If anything, gun ownership laws should be incredibly strict. In fact, no one should be allowed to own a gun in America. They aren't allowed to England, and when is the last time you heard about how high the crime rate was there? It's because, if you take the "privilege" away from everyone, that means all the dangerous people out there are less likely to be able to obtain a gun, and average joes who are depressed or have depressed family members can't, as well.

Not to mention all the dumbasses out there who accidentally shoot themselves or their friends in hunting accidents, or the stupid parents who leave guns out where their children can get to them. Such dangerous weapons should not be available to "normal" people; they just can't handle the responsibility.
