Nashville Star is down to it's final 8 after sending Alyson Gilbert home. Gilbert, who was criticized by the judges for not just her "popping eyeballs", also was considered inconsistent in her performances. Alyson sang "She's in Love with the Boy" to not so good reviews before her elimination. The redhead from Jackson, Tennessee has a lot of work to do according to the judges before she can win a big recording contract.

Also in the bottom two this week were Laura and Sophie. The duo performed "Walking on Sunshine" and "Because of You" as the show came to a close.
The two might not make it next week if their acts don't improve. That's if the judges thoughts are indicative of what America thinks.

So the Nashville Star odds have been shuffled around after a surprisingly good week by some and struggles by others.
Leading the way are Gabe Garcia and Melissa Lawson. The two were both mentioned as the best male and female singers on tonight's' show.

Garcia belted out the Bon Jovi hit "Wanted Dead or Alive" to amazing reviews from the judges who were thrilled to hear his range for the first time.
Then the Texas native sang the George Strait tune "The Fireman". It was a performance that had judge John Rich on his feet clapping. He hasn't done a single thing to lose the competition. His performances have been less than exciting at times but always consistent and always strong vocally.

Melissa Lawson faired equally as well. Lawson attempted the Martina McBride hit "This One's for the Girls". The judges immediately told her after her performance that she is the best female vocalist on the show. She followed that up with Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide". John Rich told her that if the show ended tonight she "would be the undisputed winner." Keep in mind that was before Garcia's performance that also seemed to move Rich and the other two judges.

Takeaways
  • Gabe Garcia and Melissa Lawson are the favorites when it comes to the Nashville Star Odds

Great review of the show! I enjoy watching and think Gabe and Melissa are definitely the top performers. I also like Pearl Heart and hope they improve in the rankings.
