Ripping from Aloe Vera
What Aloe Vera Could Do to Your Health
Modern medicine is taking a turn which was not expected some few years back. Synthetic drugs on treatment of the predominant and probably incurable ailments are being replaced by natural remedies from plants, and less from the animals. A dominating field too is the consumption of these natural remedies in terms of nutritional requirements, thus the field of nutrition taking a medicinal turn which is geared to helping the under privileged population of the world.
One of the natural remedies to the common ailments such as bowel toxicity and constipation has been Aloe Vera. From a long time ago, people from different parts of the world have subscribed Aloe Vera as a drug to people who have peristalsis problems, those with abdominal pains due to excess acidity, and constipation. Though Aloe Vera has been used all these years, its implication on health has not been well emphasized.
Aloe Vera has three major components, the leaves (outer covering) the sap found within the cells of the gel which lies in between the upper part leaf and the underneath part of the leaf. The leaf itself has not been shown to contain in desirable properties and I will leave it at that.
The sap is the bitter portion of Aloe Vera leaf. This sap mainly contains the anthroquinones which have antimicrobial properties. Consumption of the sap will reduce the microbial load of the alimentary canal and have a laxative effect in the Gastro Intestinal Tract (GIT). This therefore increases the rate of alimentary peristalsis making the static bowel to have a remarkable movement. The sap therefore should be consumed only when one is undergoing constipation to avoid occurrence of diarrhea.
