In an effort to encourage people to share their feelings and stories about what it means to be an American, the FOX News Channel created a Web site called RealAmericanStories.com. It is a campaign to "share American stories and to help us appreciate who we are, where we come from, and how truly fortunate we are to be part of the American experience." The purpose of RealAmericanStories.com is to give people a place to post their personal videos about what being an American means to them, and some of the stories will indeed fill you with hope and patriotism.

The way that RealAmericanStories.com works is that you can choose to either share in other people's stories by watching the videos they have posted, or to post a video of your own that shares your American story. Some examples of things that people shared include Chelsea Binkowski who talks about how she donated 14 inches of her hair to Locks for Love, Inwook Song who talks about following his own personal American dream, or Emily Phrasikaysone who talks about how her father emigrated from Laos and worked his way into a successful life. All of the videos at RealAmericanStories.com are heart-felt, and there are even some celebrity videos on there from people like L.L. Cool J and Fran Drescher. If you wish to load up your own video, it's as easy as shooting the video, uploading the file to the site, and filling out some brief information about your submission.

I do believe that our country The United States of America is under fire and it makes me sad....after 911 I realized the sacrifice that everyone of our troops have made since our great nation was built...and since 911 I have had my brother my cousin and some friends serve over seas to try and find where the enemy is...and a President who was dealt a crappy hand...try and protect each and everyone of us!......we can all say we should have done this or that but the truth be told we have NOT have had another attack since then...and call me crazy but everyone was on board the day we decided to go to war!!!....these (people) want us all dead and I don't think I want that for our kids future or ours for that matter...all I know is that we do live in the greatest country in the world...there is still so much oppurtunity out there for us and beyond....we have been down before we will pick ourselves back up!!!!!!

To the leftist nut-job that was putting down America (which is typical of the Democrap left), stop your complaining and bad mouthing America. No country is or even can be perfect. Most of the minor problems that you people complain about are caused by people of your ilk or they are not really a problem at all. Most countries would kill to have the so called problems that you and your ilk spew about! You are just a leftist nut job that read the likes of Fromm or Marx or Froid without a critical thought in your tiny brain. Why don't you get a clue? America is the greatest coutry to ever exist and it is as a direct result of the American people and the exact opposite idealogy of the ilk you represent! God continue to bless America!!!

6 young men, traveling from Seattle, WA. to New York City. on Bicycles, a fund raiser to make aware the small country of Rwanda. After years of genicide, the country is trying to build a demcracy. They haul coffee to market on bicycles that have been constructed with anything they can find, some even made crudly from wood. these 6 young aollage age men have given their time and energy to this cause, they are on the road some where in the midwest. they have gathered many sponsers and have met some of the nicest folks along the way. They have a van traveling with them assisting in needed parts seeing they get fed and a place to bed down at night. They are trying to put together a fund raiser dinner in New York City at their final destination. I don't think you will find very many young people so willing to give up their time for others, these young men are to be commended for what they are doing! check out the website...........therideforrwanda.org

My ancestors came to this country in the 1770's as indentured soldiers to fight against our freedom. They joined the Americans instead and were given land grants in Virginia. Their grandchildren eventually became coal miners in West Virginia. My grandfather, Charles Edgar Raber, died in 1934 as a result of World War I injuries. My father, Donally Raber, was the first male in our family to graduate from high school. He spent 20 years in the US Air Force and died in 2001 from exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. I spent 22 years in the US Air Force and came out with a Bachelors Degree. I went to work teaching college to inmates, earned my Masters Degree, then retired again at age 50. Yesterday I celebrated the 4th of July with 12 other family members in Maui. I thank God for my 10 children and 4, so far, grandchildren. I thank God for the men and women, like my grandfather and father, who gave their lives for our freedom.

AS I SIT HERE IN FRONT OF MY COMPUTER, WATCHING MY TV , I AM LOOKING AT THE BEAUTIFUL AND SPECTACULAR 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION FROM WASHINGTON D.C. I WONDER IF MOST OF OUR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY TODAY. COULD SURVIVE IF THERE WAS ANOTHER DEPRESSION. I WAS BORN DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND KNEW WHAT IT WAS LIKE TOO HAVE ONLY 1 PAIR OF SHOES THAT WERE JUST FOR SCHOOL AND CHURCH ON SUNDAYS, WE LIVED IN THE COUNTRY AND COULD GROW OUR OWN FOOD. I OFTEN WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THEY TOOK AWAY ALL THE CELL PHONES, THE COMPUTERS, THE TVS AND THE DIGITAL ITEMS THAT ARE IN USE TODAY....YOUNG AMERICA COULD YOU SURVIVE AND FIND A WAY TOO FEED YOUR FAMILY AND PUT A ROOF OVER THEIR HEADS??????? IF WE HAD ANOTHER DEPRESSION AND THIS NATION WENT BACK TOO SQUARE ONE COULD YOU MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN?????????? YOU SEE! THAT IS WHAT OUR FORE FATHERS DID, ALL ON THEIR OWN, NO HAND OUTS FROM ANY ONE, LOOK AT THE GREAT NATION THEY BUILT, TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT, CAUSE THIS IS IT.GOD BLESS AMER.

I'm honoured to add this site to my favourites. I received "Inspirational Stories of Everyday People Who Led Extraordinary Lives" by John Sheeler, as a gift. It is my plan to celebrate this July 4th weekend, quietly and reflectively, reading and exploring this site. I am touched to have the priviledge to be able to do so. Thank you Fox News.

America is a land of Evangelical Christians and the Israelis. There is no other land like America where we have such high and moral beliefs embedded in this country through our Judeao-Christian are present. May God bless America. Wake up! People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan. We all have the same opportunity to succeed in life, it's the path you choose as an individual that will determin your success. NAFTA may take some jobs from some people, but if those products are made here, it's most likely you wouldn't be able to afford to purchase them. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for not achieving the american dream. We the people, have to go back and recapture the values of our fore fathers that made this country so powerful and great, in its short exsistance. This country achieved greatness in a short time in history. It's people who have sacrificed, without complianing that helped make this country so great and become the strongest nation in the world. Take responsibity for your own actions and lack of success and stop putting the blame on others. MAN UP!
