Watermelon Like Viagra? Fruit's Nutrients Found to Cause the Same Effect
Watermelons are regarded as a good fruit to eat on a hot day. One thing watermelons have never been associated with is Viagra, however. But watermelon Viagra may be two words that deserve to be put together. According to Science Daily magazine, watermelon Viagra may be a worthy connection
because watermelon's ingredients may contain elements similar to Viagra. Watermelon Viagra is possible because watermelons can now work through the blood vessels like Viagra does, which can create an increase in the libido.
Dr. Behinu Patil of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Station came up with this theory for the Science Daily article. He focused on the watermelon's most beneficial ingredients, phyto-nutrients. These watermelon ingredients can trigger healthy reactions in the human body, which can relax blood vessels in the same way that Viagra does.
One watermelon phyto-nutrient, citrulline, is converted to arginine through enzymes. Patil stated that arginine helps the immune system and also aids the heart and circulation system. It also boosts nitric oxide, which aids the blood vessels to help treat erectile dysfunction, according to Patil. Previously, that was exactly what Viagra and the other erectile dysfunction pills were primarily used for- and they are certainly not fruit. Watermelon Viagra may combine the best of fruit and viagra, however.
Patil also stated that watermelon's arginine and nitric oxide can help treat angina, high blood pressure and additional cardiovascular troubles without any "drug side-effects." In comparison, Viagra is usually regarded as not having many additional positive side effects other than treating erectile dysfunction. But Patil recommends that watermelons be left at room temperature before cutting them and eating them. For those looking to buy watermelons for the Fourth of July, certain buyers may now be able to get the extra health benefits in various areas that they need to fully celebrate the Fourth.
