Today after having a hankering for a chocolate cream pie and a banana cream pie, I decided to make one of each. While I know there won't be a problem with my family eating them, I just couldn't help myself.

Rather than making both from scratch, I went for a faster method. The faster methods to making a semi-homemade cream pie are as follows.

Ingredients Needed for a Banana and Chocolate Cream Pie

1 box of premade refrigerated pie crusts.
This will make one each crust needed for the chocolate and banana cream pie.

1 large box each of the chocolate and vanilla or banana instant pudding. Use the pie pudding recipe rather than the pudding recipe for this.

2 Bananas. Two bananas for the banana cream pie.

Making the Banana and Chocolate Cream Pies

Bring the two pie crusts to room temperature. This will make it easier to unroll the refrigerated pie crusts.

Unroll a pie crust into a pie plate. Crimp the edges of the crust and poke holes in the bottom of the pie crust. Repeat for the second pie crust and plate. Bake the pie crust at 450 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes.

While the pie crusts are cooling, mix each pudding in 2 ½ cups of milk. Slice the two bananas in the vanilla or banana pudding.

Once the pie crusts are cooled, pour the puddings into the pie crusts and refrigerate for two hours.

You can top the pies with whipped topping, chocolate tips or slivers, nuts, or bananas. Slice and serve.

Takeaways
  • Forgo making cream pies from scratch, by using this method.
  • Make your own cream pies in an hour or less.
  • Enjoy a holiday treat any time of the year.
