Not too long ago I wrote an article calling for recognition of Steve Martin as America's Greatest Entertainer of All Time. Most people know Steve Martin through either his comedy routines or his movies. He has accomplished so much more, of course, but it will be his films for which Martin is remembered. Although many of his best movies are not yet available for Netflix instant viewing on your TV via the Roku device, a healthy amount of some Steve Martin movies can be watched in your home at any time and as often you desire. Maybe in the future The Lonely Guy, All of Me and Planes, Trains and Automobiles will be released for instant viewing on Netflix. And if God really does love us, He'll never allow Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club to ever clog up anyone's Roku.

The Jerk.
This Netflix instant viewing choice will Roku to your very laughtestine. The Jerk was Steve Martin's first starring role in a feature film and came at the height of his popularity as a rock star stand-up comic. It is one-half Jerry Lewis, one-half Buster Keaton and one-third Rene Magritte; a goofy romp that is surreal in many places and often comes close to verging on the avant-garde. A hilarious way to spend a night with your Netflix Roku.

Little Shop of Horrors.
The original Roger Corman Little Shop of Horrors last about 90 minutes and feels much shorter. This musical version is about the same length, but somehow feels twice as long. There really is only one good reason to watch the musical version and that is Steve Martin's all too brief appearance as a sadistic dentist. He has the best song in the movie as well as the best scene.
