You probably really enjoy decorating for Christmas. The twinkling of lights, a nicely trimmed tree and pretty wreath on your door gently remind you that it is Christmas time. Of course, these decorations should show your personality. Here are some tips on how you can shine through this Christmas season.
1. Each year you will encounter Christmas lights that burn out. It can be a real problem to find the one bulb that is burnt out. However, if you purchase a light tester you will no longer have this headache as this tool will check each light individually in order to find the one that needs replaced. Most department stores sell these in the same aisle where you purchase your Christmas decorations.
2. Try to use a lot of angels in your decorations as this will add some peace and tranquility to your home. We all could use this during the holiday time. Plus who would not want to have an angel watching over them?
3. Add a fruit bowl to your dining room table. This will not only make your home smell nice but will also remind you to eat more fruit and less junk this holiday season.
4. Make sure that you add a personal touch wherever possible. For instance, you can add your family members’ names to their stockings. This can even be done for your pets. All you need to do this is a silver or gold glitter pen.
5. Do not forget about the poinsettias and mistletoes. These holiday traditions can be artificial and yet they are still a nice touch.
6. A nice green wreath with a simple red bow will look great on your front door. If you purchase an artificial wreath it will last for many years to come. For placing wreaths in your windows, you should purchase a magnetic wreath hanger. These come in two parts: one for inside your home and the other for outside. The magnets are strong enough to work through your glass windows. While they have been around for a while, they are just starting to become popular.
7. You need to measure the length AND the width of the area where you are going to place your Christmas tree before you purchase one. Make sure that if you purchase a live tree you give it lots of water.
