Quick and Easy Ways to Add Value to Your Home
Whether you're about to put your home on the real estate market, or just think it's time to consider some remodeling and updating, for as little cost as possible, there are a few quick and easy, yet inexpensive, projects you can do. These are bound to add aOf course, the best way to really increase the value of your home is to keep it well maintained throughout the time you reside in it. It's a lot cheaper in the long run if you work on a few projects every now and then over the years, keeping it modernized and up to date. If you wait until you put it on the market for sale, you'll be scrambling around at the last minute, trying to get years worth of repairs done in a matter of weeks. This too, will mean that the renovations will all have to be paid for at the same time, which could prove to be a costly endeavour. Nevertheless, below are some easy, inexpensive, yet profitable repairs that just about any home owner can tackle themselves.
Interior
The first and obvious main step is paint. A new coat of paint to interior walls, window casings and the exterior (if you have wood siding) can make your home look near band new. Nothing ages a house quicker than peeling paint, rotting window frames and grungy looking walls. Be sure to wash and repair walls before adding a new coat of paint. The same goes for window frames. Be sure to wood fill any imperfections, then sand, prime and repaint.
If you happen to have older style kitchen cabinets and vanity sinks, a brand new coat of paint can give these a new face-lift as well. Just be sure to sand all surfaces enough to roughen them up so the new coat of paint adheres well. Also, try to choose light, neutral colors. They will give the appearance of making a room look larger and brighter, thus more inviting.
