Easy Summer Hairstyles
Having longer hair in the summer can make you quite uncomfortable. It's hot and heavy, it stick to your face when you're outdoors, humidity can cause hair to frizz and curl and often times, summer weather leaves long hair limp and lifeless.
I have a few solutions to manage your long locks. Pulling your hair up during the summer is really the only way to avoid having it cling to your face and make your overheated. But you don't have to be sloppy about it, tied back hair can be classy and
beautiful.
My number one hairstyle for summer is a classic ponytail. I style my hair as usual, straightening it with a flat iron and then I brush it back to the crown of my head and tie it with a hair elastic. I brush the ponytail down and use a dab of smoothing serum just on the ponytail to ensure that it lays nice and looks shiny. You want to avoid cheerleader poofy ponytails, sleek and sexy is the way to go.
I also like pulling my hair back into a chignon. This is great for when you're swimming, hiking, or doing any outdoor activity because all of your hair is out of your face, but it looks like you put yourself together well. Simply fix your hair in a traditional ponytail, or one at the base of your neck if you prefer and low chignon. Separate your ponytail into two sections and wrap one section around the base of your elastic until all of you hair has been wrapped around. Using bobby pins, secure ends and any loose pieces and then do the same thing with the remaining section of hair, this time wrapping it around in the opposite direction. Secure with bobby pin and spray with a little hairspray if you desire.
Pigtails aren't just for kids anymore. Ensure that your part is even in the back and secure one side loosely while you work on the other. You can choose regular pony-tail type pigtails, chignon pigtails or even pigtail braids. Repeat the same style on the other side. Pigtails are cute and causal, a great pick for a summertime hairstyle.
