How to Be the Perfect Husband

There's multiple articles already on how to be the perfect wife. There's the original, of course, and then there's my response to it, which pretty much contradicts every tip that the original contained. But as a married man, I know what works as a husband as well. Here are a few tips.

-Don't be oversensitive. Yeah, a lot of you guys out there take pride in being the head of the household, the leader of the relationship. But you know what? The best CEOs are the ones who listen to their employees and take their thoughts and concerns seriously. Don't be a little girl and get butt-hurt if your wife makes a suggestion on what to do, what to wear or what to eat. Take it, consider it, do it or don't do it, but when you get offended by a simple suggestion, you become the OPPOSITE of the strong male leader that you think you are.

-Be responsible and accountable. If you want to be "the man", earn that right. Be honest even if it's painful to do. Be accountable for your actions. Don't blame everything on her or on any other outside circumstance you can come up with. If you're to blame for something, accept the blame.

-Don't be a pushover. Believe it or not, if you're in a situation where you two are fighting and you feel like she's giving you a demand list, the last thing she wants you to do is to just give up and agree to all of it. Fight back! Again, listen and consider. She wants to be heard. She wants to be understood. If you decide to go a different direction than she wants you to go, the worst thing you can do is "because I'm the man and I say so". Explain why, and reiterate her concerns to her and validate them, while at the same time sharing your own thoughts, cares and concerns and explaining why it would be good or bad for the two of you as a unit, not solely for her or for you.
