Simran is a freelance copy –editor and has authored few books. What is so unique about Simran, is her immense liking and love for everything about India, though she is a resident citizen of the United States. Her extensive knowledge about India, which she showcases though her articles appearing in AC, is simply mind boggling. Her favourite topic is Bollywood and one has to visit her personal blog to pick up the latest gossip or scandal happening in the celluloid world of Bollywood. Her whole outlook and thinking process is more Indian sometime putting to shame an average Indian residing in India. What really inspires you to write?
Sometimes I’m inspired by the creation around me, sometimes it is a song, a film or even a dream.
-What is the one thing that draws you to the computer and really gets your fingers moving on an article?
Deadlines! I work best under pressure for some crazy reason. Also, if I’m really excited about the article I’m writing and just can’t wait to get the words out.
- So how did you get into writing?
From the time I was about eight and saw John Boy Walton on the TV show “The Waltons”, I wanted to be a writer just like he was and even asked my parents for the “Big Chief” Writing Tablets. Ever since that time I have been using the written page to express myself.
- Tell us one thing about yourself that people might not know.
I LOVE to dance!
- What has been your greatest success in life?
Raising my three daughters on my own.
- What goals are you trying to achieve with your writing?
If others can find solace in my writing when it’s a story that they can relate to personally or to touch their lives in some way at all, then I have accomplished what I set out to do.
- If you where trapped on an island by yourself what 3 things could you not live without?
My Bible, Laptop (with an indefinite amount of power), pictures of my loved ones
