Late last year I was surfing the net and I came across the website www.oyinhandmade.com which sells all natural hair and skin products. While browsing I saw a product named Oyin Funk Butter which is an all natural deodorant. Awhile back I'd given a good review to the Crystal Body Deodorant Stick, another all natural deodorant. I had very good results with it, but it didn't absorb any sweat and occasionally I guess I wouldn't apply enough so I'd wind up smelling rather stank at the end of the day. So I just wanted to find a new deodorant that would give me more protection and absorb sweat.

I saw that the Funk Butter, which contains baking soda, cornstarch, shea butter, coconut oil, sunflower oil, kaolin clay, calendula, and chamomile powders, and sweet almond oil, got great reviews from customers on the Oyin site. But I knew that baking soda could really burn and irritate the skin and even cause dark marks because the sodium in it is really drying. A couple of customers did complain about that but it was only $4.50 so I decided to try it anyway.

I ordered the Oyin Funk Butter in the coco mango scent which is described on the site as smelling like mangoes, papayas, coconuts, and pineapples crushed together. When the little tin of deodorant arrived it was literally crammed with the Funk Butter. Even though it was little it felt very dense and it looked like a batch of thick beige paste. It did, however, smell really good but instead of smelling like coconuts and mangoes it smelled more and like the banana flavored Now & Later candy.

To use the Oyin Funk Butter you grab a really small amount. Then you soften it between your fingers and apply it to your armpits. I really liked putting on my deodorant this way, it felt more natural then using a stick.

What I really liked about the Oyin Funk Butter deodorant is how it starts out as a thick paste but after it's rubbed onto the skin it turns into a powder. If you rub it in the right way there's usually no white marks (if there is it won't stain your clothes since it's basically baking soda) and it helps to absorb wetness like a mainstream deodorant would.
