Top Ten Gift Ideas for a Musician

Musicians can be some of the most difficult people to shop for. They need everything but, only really want a few things. After interviewing my Rockstar (wanna-be) Boyfriend and his Band Members, I have created the ultimate musical gift guide for this year.

1. Instrument Paraphernalia: Of course Musicians already have their instruments (or voices) but, they almost always need some extras to go with it. Guitarists and Bass Players need an endless supply of picks and strings. Drummers must have sticks, cymbols and snares. Singers are always looking to upgrade their mics and PA systems.

2. Studio Time: This gift is gaurenteed to make you a favorite not only with your musician but, his band members too. The only downside to this gift is that it can be a little bit pricey. Studio time generally costs anywhere from $25-$500 an hour. Most bands will need about 1-5 eight hour days in the studio depending on the amount of songs and the quality they are looking for.

3. Blank CDs: If your Rocker already has his tracks recorded, blank CDs are a must. Up and Coming Musicians need hundreds if not thousands of these. Demos will be sold at shows, passed out to friends and most importantly, sent to Record Executives.

4. Concet Tickets: Most music makers are also music lovers. There is almost always a concert or show going on for fans of any genre. Festivals and all day events are great (think Lollapalooza, Ozzfest ect) but, if they are not in your budget-a local show will also do. Wanna-be Rockstars love to check out the competetion.

5. Professional Lessons: This is not the ideal gift for every musical artist. Most will love to have the opportunity to enhance their existing skills. However, some will feel that their skills need no enhancing and may be offended. Use your best judgement before giving this controversial gift.

6. I-Pods: Even the most old school rocker will enjoy this gift. This is the greatest technological advance in music since.....well the radio. Your Musician will love being able to rock out on the go.
