“In 1921 pharmacists and physicians gathered in Switzerland under the guidance of Dr. Rudolph Steiner to create a natural medicine and personal care company later called Weleda. Using pharmaceutical techniques combined with a spiritual approach, they formulated a truly innovative line of quality products based on the study of relationships between substances and processes of nature and the human being.

By cultivating plants using organic and biodynamic agricultural methods, harvesting them at peak times, and processing them with the utmost care, Weleda believes it is possible to retain a plant’s inherent qualities and healing properties.

Dr. Steiner chose the name Weleda to honor the ancient tradition of Celtic women healers. He designed the logo to symbolize the act of giving and receiving which is represented by the outer part of the logo, and the uprightness and truthfulness which is represented by the center of the logo. The center of the symbol also represents the staff of Mercury - a venerated symbol of healing.”

Product Development - Weleda produces medicinal and body care preparations in cooperation with pharmacists and physicians.

Pure Ingredients - The products in the line contain natural substances that comply with the Weleda Principle of Quality. Most plants are biodynamically or organically grown, either in Weleda’s own gardens, or by certified growers, and are harvest at their peak. The plant oils are cold-pressed and their essential oils are all natural.

Production - Production is not simply a mechanical line. Weleda processes and combines raw materials according to holistic criteria, so that they can maintain the original life force of the plants as much as possible.
