Self tanner is not always an easy thing to apply to your body. Many people end up with a blotched and streaky tan or they turn themselves an unnatural shade of orange. If you ever find yourself dealing with the problem of a fake tan gone wrong, there is still hope for you. You will not have to walk around looking like an Oompa-Loompa from Willy Wonka. There are a couple different steps that you can take to remove most of your fake tan. Nothing will completely remove the fake tan from your skin but it will definitely make a noticeable difference for the better.

What You Will Need:
Loofah
Shower
Lemon juice
Hydrogen Peroxide
Towel

Directions:
1. As soon as you notice that your fake tan has gone wrong, you want to wash yourself off in warm water. While washing with warm water, exfoliate your skin with a loofah to help remove some of the fake tan from your skin. The warm water will help open up your pores and also will help remove the fake tan.

2. Dry yourself off completely after washing with warm water. You may not want to use a good towel, as some of your fake tan may rub off onto the towel.

3. Rub lemon juice over the entire fake tan areas of your body. If you do not have lemon juice, you may also try hydrogen peroxide on your fake tan. Make sure that you test an area of skin with hydrogen peroxide first to make sure you do not have an adverse effect from it. Do not use both lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide together as it will be too strong for your skin.

4. Another option is to use sugar mixed into the lemon juice. The sugar will help exfoliate the skin and basically rub the fake tan off of your skin.

5. Leave the lemon juice on for approximately 30-60 seconds and then wash it off with warm water. If you used hydrogen peroxide, you can just rub some of it off your skin with a towel.

6. After you have completed the above steps, you should notice that most of your fake tan has disappeared and rubbed off. Make sure that when you are done with these steps to get rid of your fake tan, that you use plenty of lotion to moisture your skin. The lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide will dry out your skin, so you need to make sure you moisture it for awhile.

Very timely article! I've had success with the loofah method when trying to clean up self-tanning boo-boo's.
