Lutheran Churches in the Boston Area

Boston Massachusetts is home of the First Lutheran Church of Boston, located at 299 Berkeley St. This beautiful church is home to a large community of believers from around the globe.

This is the oldest Lutheran church in New England, having been built after the purchase of land in 1954 from Massachusetts General Hospital. The present church was dedicated in September 1957. In 2003, First Lutheran Church appointed Rev. Augusto Rodolfo Riss to focus on the spiritual needs of the Brazilian community in the greater Boston area.

Worship schedule for The First Lutheran Church of Boston is Sunday 8:00 a.m. Holy Communion, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Sunday school and Bible classes for all ages. 11:00 a.m. Holy Communion. Saturdays (in Portuguese) 7:00 p.m. Holy Communion and Wednesdays (during Advent and Lent) 7:00 p.m. Evening Prayer.

This year the book used for this study is "Concordia Publishing House's Growing in Christ" There will also be Special Adult Studies in 2008 for The History and Theology of Lutheran Worship. Leading this study will be Dr. Christopher Boyd Brown of the Boston University School of Theology.
