Preview of the 2008 ESPYS Hosted by Justin Timberlake

The 2008 ESPYS, hosted by Justin Timberlake, and presented by ESPN, is set to air on Sunday, July 20th at 9:00pm ET. This years' nominees are a group of remarkable athletes who accomplished amazing feats throughout the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Some of these unforgettable moments include the enormous upset in the Super Bowl were Eli Manning and the New York Giants overcame the New England Patriots. Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers also had a remarkable end to his career when he broke Dan Marino's all-time touchdown passes record and finished the 2007 season with some of his best numbers. Also, in golf Tiger Woods and Lorena Ochoa stole the spotlight with their sports performances. As for baseball, Barry Bonds broke the all-time home run record set by Hank Aaron with 755 home runs. Bonds now holds the new record with 762 home runs but another baseball ESPY nominee, Alex Rodriguez, will be chasing that new number. Both the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics won championships led by Josh Beckett and Kevin Garnett. Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul had hall of fame caliber years. The WNBA features Lauren Jackson who was the MVP and also set the record for most points scored in a single game. In tennis, Justine Henin, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer left fans with performances that were unlike anything seen before. Furthermore, the women made history in auto racing. Danica Patrick and Ashley Force became first time winners in their sports. As for the men, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch have taken over the sport with their performances. In horse racing Big Brown and Kent Desormeaux fell one victory short of winning the Triple Crown which led to the years second biggest upset in the Belmont Stakes when Da' Tara won as a longshot of 32-1. This years ESPYS will surely be a year to watch because what took place in sports during the 2007 and 2008 seasons should be recognized.
