Fox Network's "So You Think You Can Dance" will officially meet its halfway point tonight. The show will announce who makes up the nation's top 10 dancers. But who will they be?This week full-time judges, Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe and ballroom diva Mary Murphy were joined by contemporary dance choreographer and Emmy winner Mia Michaels. It was obvious from the first dance that, this week, the judges had their work cut out for them.
Once again, each pair of dancers was tasked with performing two different styles of dance. Some excelled even more while others began to tire quickly.
Dancing first this week was ballroom dancer, Chelsie, and her contemporary partner, Mark. They drew a salsa routine, choreographed by Alex DaSilva. Finally, Chelsie had the opportunity to show her abilities in her own dance style. The results were explosive.
I continue to be impressed with this tiny firecracker. She is not only stunning to look at; she is also very talented. It would not surprise me if she made it into the finals as one of the last two standing.
Mark pulled out all of the stops as well, determined not to let his partner down. For the most part, he succeeded with ease.
Nigel called their performance "great" and said it was the perfect opening to the show. He complimented their footwork and told Chelsie that she continues to blow him away.
Mary called the routine "rocket fast" and told the couple that they "worked it." She complimented Mark for his power and strength that supported his partner to perfection. She called Chelsie "phenomenal."
Mia told the duo they were "smokin' hot!" She also said they danced the routine well.
For their second performance, the team performed a Broadway routine. The song, "I am Woman" was choreographed by Tice DiOrio. I thought the performance was fun, sexy, and well danced.
Nigel said that he had just returned from Las Vegas where the temperature was 110 degrees. However, he said, "it wasn't as hot as this routine." He told the couple that they had danced it well.
