Analyzing- often referred to as ANALyzing by my 9th grade Bio teacher, because he hated doing it too, it's always been a dreaded word to me. Because typically, it requires some sort of complex thinking, followed by a lot or writing in an English class about some book written 200 before I could've cared!

Gee, thanks to my high school. There should've been a warning like this

If you pay any attention to baseball at all (and most of you do), then you know what's fast appraoching: the trade deadline. And with two monster moves being made by the NL Central already, other teams have to be considering what it'll take to get past the Brewers and/or Cubs.

Let's analyze what might be to come in the days and weeks ahead. But I'll try to keep it short!

Buyers:

Atlanta Braves- I think they ought to be buying, because despite all of the injuries, all of the one-run losses, all of the crappy play on the road, they're not out of it yet. The bullpen has been better of late, but will Julian Taverez be better than a terrible Manny Acosta? The team is sick of being discounted. Mark Teixiera could be some lucrative trade bait, as he'll be a free agent after this year and I highly doubt the Braves can sign him. The question: Is Atlanta willing to move away from relying on the longball? If so, then a power-for-speed swap could be for the taking with another contender.
Needs: OF, RP, and a SP

Arizona Diamondbacks- The offense has been absolutely horrid on the road, batting less than .230 away from the conforts of home. Part of that can be attributed to youth, but most of these players were there down the stretch last year. Consistency is what's really needed, probably from a veteran presence. Would Cleveland be willing to part with somebody like Grady Sizemore? They've already given up the season, and the Chris boys (Burke/Young) aren't getting it done for the D-backs. Pitching is just fine.

Needs: Veteran presence, OF

As a long time Braves fan this is killing me to see them in the gutter. I agree the pitching staff needs a boost. Also the youngsters need some time under their belts. But for a Braves fan used to winners the past couple of years has hurt and now TBS is no longer The Braves Station, suffer suffer is all we can do.

Nice job. Very thorough info. The Twins have had a nice find in Denard Span in the OF. He gives them some extra speed and has been hitting well.
