2008 Fantasy Football Team by Team Analysis: New York Jets
The 2007 Jets had a rough year finishing 4-12. The good news is, with the Miami Dolphins in the same division, they aren't the worst team around. The bad news is they are in the same division as the New England Patriots; enough said.
While there are a lot of question marks on this team, there is the potential for a few diamonds in the rough. Here's how the 2007 Jets compared to the rest of the league on offense and defense.
Offense (Ranking)
Points/Game 16.8 (25th)
Total Yards/Game 294.7 (26th)
Rush Yards/Game 106.3 (19th)
Pass Yards/Game 188.4 (25th)
Defense (Ranking)
Points/Game 22.2 (19th)
Total Yards/Game 331.9 (18th)
Rush Yards/Game 134.8 (29th)
Pass Yards/Game 197.1 (9th)
The 2008 Jets don't appear ready to compete with many contenders. They stand no chance against the Patriots, and the bright side is they get to play Miami twice. While things as a whole don't appear to be the greatest for the Jets this season, there has to be some playmakers worthy of drafting for your fantasy team, right? Let's take a look at the options the New York Jets present for fantasy football teams this year:
Quarterback
Currently Chad Pennington rests at the top of the depth chart, but for how long is unknown. Kellen Clemens is waiting in the wings, and the Jets want to see if he has what it takes to be a long term solution. Expect a quarterback by committee to be used in New York this year, which means fantasy owners beware!
Running Back
Thomas Jones had a productive year. He rushed for 1,119 yards, but only turned in one touchdown. Leon Washington ran for 3 touchdowns and also had 1,291 yards from kickoff returns, including 3 more touchdowns. He is a solid choice for leagues that offer points for kick return yardage.
