Do you have people on your list that really don't need or want anything? Do you they always shop immediately once they want or need something? People like this can been the most frustrating to purchase for at Christmas time.1. Create an Event-Based Gift -
Instead for purchasing a generic gift card for their favorite store or restaurant for later use, take him or her out to dinner or shopping at a later date. If the person is a movie buff, take him or her out to a movie. If you really care about the person, ideas such as these will create lasting memories, not just crass consumerism. If you have an antique lover on your list, set a date to go to an antique mall. Last year, instead of purchasing a gift for my grandmother that she didn't need or wouldn't use, I simply went and helped her with pre-Christmas choirs (wrapping) and later helped her clean out her cupboards. I truly value the time I spent with her - and that is most important of all.
2. Order His or Her Favorite Magazine -
For serious shoppers (especially of the female persuasion), Lucky is a magazine full of wonderful fashion/shopping ideas. For young teen-age girls, Seventeen still reigns. If you have a hunter on your list who loves to buy outdoor items (aka my Dad), you can't beat North American Hunter or Alaska magazine. Magazines provide wonderful shopping ideas for those who want to keep up with trends, whether if is what high school girls are wearing or the latest in hunting gear.
3. Accessories for the His or Her Latest Purchase -
If you know someone as I described earlier, they always have a new item or outfit. For example, one year my Dad purchased a new gun prior to Christmas. Needless to say, that Christmas, he received quite a few accessories for that gun. Last year, my brother and sister both received golden retriever puppies from my Dad. As a result, puppy accessories made gift giving easy!
