2008 Fantasy Football Cheat Sheet Rankings: Running Back
All rankings are based off of a standard head to head scoring system (touchdowns, interception, yards, fumbles) in mixed AFC/NFC leagues.
For sleeper, breakout, and bust player picks, check out the key below.
BUST = player will register far below their 2007 stat totals
BREAKOUT = player will surpass expectations and/or have a career year in 2008
SLEEPER = player will be a late round pick or go undrafted and has a good chance of producing fantasy worthy stats in 2008
Good Luck to Everyone This Fantasy Football Season!
RUNNING BACK RANKINGS
1. LaDainian Tomlinson - San Diego Chargers
Tomlinson is proven and can still do everything from running between the tackles, to running outside, to catching the ball out of the backfield. He deserves to be drafted number one overall.
2. Adrian Peterson - Minnesota Vikings
Peterson exploded onto the fantasy scene in '07 and that momentum has carried him into consideration for the number one overall fantasy spot. However if you think Tomlinson has injury problems, well welcome to Adrian Peterson's world. In other words, if you think Peterson is a safer pick because Tomlinson is coming off last season with an injury, then just wait till week 4 when Peterson is dinged up and starts missing games left and right.
3. Joseph Addai - Indianapolis Colts
If a running back had to choose one team to play on, Indianapolis is the ideal fit. Manning and his receiving weapons provide the perfect protection for Addai to run all over the field.
4. Steven Jackson - St Louis Rams
Jackson is young, powerful, and has plenty of talent and ability to lead fantasy teams in 2008.
5. Marion Barber - Dallas Cowboys
In the mold of Steven Jackson, Barber should offer plenty of scoring for fantasy owners this season.
6. Brian Westbrook - Philadelphia Eagles
Year after year Westbrook is never drafted among the top 5 running backs, yet somehow he always manages to finish as a top 5 fantasy running back. Shouldn't we have learned our lesson by now.
