 preservationists who banded together to fix and operate a short section of the former New York Central Line from Thendara south to Minnehaha in New York State. Since their inception in 1992, the dedicated rail fans have returned nearly 70 mies of track to passenger service. Historic train stations in Holland Patent and Remsen New York have been restored.

The railway society offers a number of themed train excursions. Since opening, they have carried 600,000 tourists and outdoor enthusiasts to experience the pristine mountain terrain in the remote areas of the Adirondack Mountains.

Rail & Cruise Package

Rail & Cruise Package departs from Union Station in Utica, New York. The train rides along the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. The first three lakes of the historic Fulton Chain of Lakes are narrated during the train ride. At Thendara Station, a shuttle bus transports passengers to the cruise departure dock for a boat tour on Old Forge Lake Cruises. The Old Forge Cruise takes passengers on a cruise back in time to the days when steam boasts carried people and goods to the camps and inns along the shores of Fulton Chain of Lakes. Fulton Cruise offers the best, panoramic views of the Central Adirondack mountains and lake. The water offers views of flora and fauna that can be seen from no where else. The Rail and Cruise package departs from Utica Union Station at 9:15 am. The Old Forge Lake Cruise departs fro the dock at 1:-- pm. The fare includes train ride, boat ride. Food not included in package. Snacks are available on the train. A picnic lunch is available for the boat ride but must be ordered 24 hours in advance of departure.
