around their homes but armed with a little bit of knowledge they could be placing beautiful landscaping that is also functional.

To find out what you will need to make your small wildlife refuge you will first want to find out a bit about the animals in your area. The types of shelters they use and the foods they eat. This will be your starting ground. Once you have this information you can go onto selecting the types of plants you will need to plant around your home.

In other words you may find that certain birds eat certain types of bush berries. This would be a good way of providing food to the local birds in your area. By giving them a food source you can then next work on giving them a housing source. You can do this by supplying bird houses or by using a thin type of stringy mulch in your flower gardens for the birds to take to make nests.

Planting fruit and nut tree's will provide a food source for many animals keeping them in the local area. As developments occur we sometimes forget about the wildlife we are chasing from their homes. By providing safe, secure and nutritional surrounding for our outside friends we are helping in preventing the endangered species list from growing even longer.
