2008 Fantasy Football Team by Team Analysis: Washington Redskins

The 2007 Redskins finished a somewhat surprising 9-7 in a very competitive NFC East. Few thought their season would turn out so good. Daniel Snyder had a relatively quiet offseason (which means you know what could have frozen over) and the Redskins have high hopes heading into 2008.
Here's how the 2007 Washington Redskins compared to the rest of the league on offense and defense.

Offense (Ranking)

Points/Game 20.9 (20th)

Total Yards/Game 333.4 (15th)

Rush Yards/Game 116.9 (12th)

Pass Yards/Game 216.4 (14th)

Defense (Ranking)

Points/Game 19.4 (12th)

Total Yards/Game 305.3 (8th)

Rush Yards/Game 91.3 (4th)

Pass Yards/Game 214.0 (16th)

The Redskins have plenty of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and how far they are able to go rests on the arm of Jason Campbell. It's time for him to limit the mistakes and reach his potential. Let's take a look at the options the Washington Redskins present for fantasy football teams this year:

Quarterback

Jason Campbell finished last year with 2,700 yards including 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Those aren't a fantasy owners dream by any means. Campbell doesn't appear ready to take the reins and run with them, and may never live up to his first round status. There are plenty of other options to consider before having to rely on Campbell on draft day.

Running Back

The Redskins have one of the better running backs in the league in Clinton Portis. Portis needs to be more consistent, as fantasy owners will love him one week and hate him the next. He needs to try to improve his yards per carry, but his 11 touchdowns make him an attractive option. Portis is a great number 2 running back for your team; however inconsistencies prevent him from being a first tier runner.
