In tears Brett Favre tells the world that he is retiring not only from the Green Bay Packers, but from the NFL entirely. His heart wrenching press conference tells it all. You can definitely tell that this is not easy for him. He speaks of God and the blessings that has come his way since he has been playing football. He goes further to thank the Lord for the abilities that He has blessed him with.

Favre thanks the Green Bay Packers for investing in him. He explains that it was all more then the money and the fame. He gives credit to his team, working as a team to get where they have since he has been with the Green Bay Packers.

Brett Favre is 38 years old and has been in the NFL for 17 years. He was contemplating leaving the team since March when it was first mentioned that he was retiring. He makes it official with the possibility to come back. Coming back into the NFL, but not the Green Bay Packers. According to the Packers, they are moving forward and have adjusted to do just that. If Favre was to decide that he wanted to return to the NFL (he still has it in him) most likely he would be traded to another team. They feel that this is in the best interest of the Packers team. In other words the NFL has given Favre the ability to be reinstated if he so desires. It appears that Aaron Rodgers who was the first pick behind Favre in 2005, will be taking his place as quarterback.

Favre was born October 10, 1969 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers from 1992 to 2007. He was a quarterback for the University of Mississippi to start his career. He was then drafted into the NFL, in 1991, by the Atlanta Falcons. Just after the forth game of the 1992 NFL football season, Brett Favre became the starting quarterback until he retired.

One problem. Brett Favre didnt go to the University of Mississippi. He went to Hardy Street High School, or The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) as they like to call themselves.

My Aunt who died a few years back and Brett's Mom Benitta (spelling?) were best friends. He flew them all over the world first class. He bought a huge mansion for his Mom and Dad. I have meet him a few times and I can tell you, he is just as sweet in person as he is on TV.
