Upstate New York is home of many historical museums. One of the best museums to visit is the American Museum of Natural History, located at Central Park West at 79th St. NY. Normal operating hours are 10:00 am. To 5:45 pm. Entrance price is $15.00 adults $8.50 children and seniors $11.00. You can become a member and your admission year round is free. The museum is teaming with exhibits from Deep Space Wonders of the Galactic Plane to Lizards and Snakes alive. Sea Monsters is a film that will take you back in time to 82 million years ago with the strange creatures from the sea. You can also take your family to see Dinosaurs Alive. Dinosaurs will take your family on a trip through the Gobi Desert.

You can visit the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum located at 4881 Broadway. This is a Dutch Colonial farmhouse built around 1784. Hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm. In addition, Sundays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Cost is $1.00 for adults and free for children under 10. There are always events happening and you must visit the website www.dyckmanfarmhouse.org before your trip to NY in order to see what is happening at any given time. One thing you will not want to miss when visiting this historical site is the ½-acre garden. This has a reproduction smokehouse and military hut on site. This formal garden and paths were restored in the recent past and are a wonderful place to visit during any season.
