Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Welcome Twins

The fate and birth of the Angelina Jolie twins has been fodder for the press and gossip rags for the last several weeks. As Angelina Jolie's twins due date came close, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took great care in not letting the press intrude more than usual. But once word got out that Angelina Jolie was lying in wait at a maternity ward, it was clear the Angelina Jolie twins would be coming out any day now. The day came on Saturday, as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their two new twins into their family.

Angelina Jolie gave birth to a boy and a girl on Saturday afternoon in a hospital at the south of France on Saturday afternoon. Jolie gave birth via a caesarean operation, with Pitt at her side.

Jolie's baby boy was named Knox Leon, while her girl was named Vivienne Marcheline, according to reports. The girl is named after Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, an actress who died of cancer last year.

Jolie's gynaecologist, Michel Sussman, told People Magazine that Jolie was in "very good spirits" afterwards. According to Jolie's doctor, the caesarean operation was supposed to have taken place a few days later, but they moved it ahead due to unspecified "medical reasons."

The birth of Jolie and Pitt's twins brings their family up to a total of six children. Jolie and Pitt now have three adopted kids and three birth children. Jolie and Pitt are well known for their children being so widely diverse and multi-cultural.

Jolie first checked into the maternity ward at the Lenval Hospital in France on July 1, under intense media scrutiny. Press and well wishers were gathered outside the hospital for days, waiting for any word and hoping to get some brief pictures of Pitt and Jolie and their friends.

A French newspaper reported that Pitt and Jolie had already agreed to sell the first twin baby photos to an unnamed American magazine for 11 million dollars. The money would then be placed in a charity of Pitt and Jolie's choice.
