When Lego started adding sets in the Fairytales line of Belville they went with a completely different build design than in the past. More cute colors, more furniture and for thrifty parents the ability to invest in sets that all worked well together and offered a lot of replay value. The strongest points of the set are the three dark pink tower sections and the castle doors. These give you the illusion of size and structure that you don't normally get from the Belville sets. This can easily be added to or combined with any Castle, Belville or Fairy Tale set.The largest set in the series is the Winter Wonder Palace (7577). It contains 168 pieces and comes with three figures. There is so much to do with the castle set up itself that you might not get into the finer points of it until much later. The small details of the set are what really make this worth investing in if you have a girl that is into the Belville series. There are two levels to the scene and the formed and textured base plate really adds a lot to the overall look of the set. This can be used at the entrance of a castle or with any of the other palace sets in the Belville series. The light blue and pink colors makes this a 100% girlie set and thankfully the colors all work well with the other Fairytales sets.
One thing that I don't like about the set is that everything is out in the open; you are provided with a lot of furniture pieces (canopy bed, table and chairs, vanity, bench and more) but all those pieces are on the outside of the castle doors. This isn't like a typical dollhouse where the back or front end is open, Lego went with a "wide open" approach to it and in my opinion it isn't the best way to present a set like this. Annabelle opted to use the base plate as an entry way and the accessory pieces were used with the Enchanted Castle set. The three figures that come with the set (two female, one male) are not your typical Lego figures; they have more detail to them, are larger in size and have more points of articulation.
