Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Welcome Twins

The public's long awaited arrival of the birth of the twins to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is finally over. The twins have arrived!

Angelina Jolie gave birth via Caesarean section on Saturday night around 8:00 pm, July 12, 2008 to a baby boy and a baby girl who are reported to be doing as well, as is Angelina Jolie and dad, Brad Pitt. The Caesarean birth of the twins came sooner than expected due to possible complications and not elaborated on by Dr. Michel Sussmann, Jolie's obstetrician. Pitt also attended the birth and was reported to be very calm.

The twins have been also been named. The twin girl's name is Vivienne Marcheline, who was named after Angelina's mother, also an actress who passed away in 2007 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Vivienne weighed an even 5 pounds. The twin boy was named Knox Leon and weight just slightly more than his baby sister at 5 pounds, three ounces. The twins and Jolie will remain in the hospital for several days according to her obstetrician.

The twins were born in the Lenval Hospital in Nice, located by the sea in southern France where Angelina arrived during the end of June via helicopter and unbeknown to local paparazzi to wait for the arrival of the twins. It was reported that she was not expected to deliver immediately, but was admitted early for rest and precaution, which is common practice for expected mothers of multiples.

The famous couple, known to the public as "Bangelina", has access to several rooms on the fifth floor, which have an outstanding view of the Bay of the Angels in the Mediterranean Sea. They have access to bodyguards who watch over the suites of rooms on a 24 hour bases.

Pitt has been seen bringing their other four children, Shiloh, age 2, Zahara, age 3, Pax, age 4 and Maddox, the oldest at age 6 for regular visits. Paparazzi have continued to hang out around the hospital, which recently darkened the windows to the rooms the famous couple has access to that allowed for them to see outside, but not for anyone on the other side to see through. This was mainly to protect the famous couple form unwanted photographs being taken by the paparazzi.
