When I heard that unusual sound again, it was on the day that I decided to paint my mother's kitchen cabinet. I was tired of seeing that color. I grabbed a cup for my coffee, looked at that dirty brown cabinet and thought, how drab!!!! I'm going to paint it a different color and boy will mom be surprised. I wasn't sure what color I wanted to paint it, so I closed my eyes, and I tried to visualize different colors and how each would look against the purple and green background of the wallpaper. When I started to fantasize, the color, dark green came to my mind.

When I finished painting, I decided to go down to the cellar to find some varnish. In a rush to find the varnish, I heard a rustle. Something, somewhere made this noise--then it stopped. I've heard this sound many times last week, but I've ignored it. When the noise stopped, all I could think of was how mom will love her new cabinet.

There was that sound again. What could it be? This time I decided to investigate. There it was--a harmless foot long garden snake. I reached out to throw it outside. "Help me !!!!" I screamed.

Later that day, I found myself lying in a hospital bed. I found out that I had been bitten by a baby rattle snake.

A nurse inquired, "A lady in the next room has an asthmatic attack due to an allergy from paint. Her name is the same as yours. Is she related?"

Now... Harriet! I was reading this and then got to the end and thought ... huh? What am I missing? And it was a story and not two people for real ... I didn't get it at first.
