Memories of Cossipore English School

I studied in this school starting from nursery. I studied here on class 1 also. My parents used to take me to the school. This school is at the Seven Tanks Estate, Dum Dum. Inside the area of the Seven Tanks, there is a club called Cossipore Club. There is a swimming pool and tennis court. The area is well maintained. It is very neat and clean. I studied class 2 and onwards at St. Thomas' Church School, Howrah Maidan. I studied at St. Thomas' till class 8. Before entering St. Thomas's Church School, I sat for the admission test at St. Thomas at Dasnagar but I thank God Almighty for not qualifying the test. I then joined this school at Howrah Maidan and studied till class 8. I went back to my Cossipore English School and studied class 9 and 10.

In my childhood, I used to go to this school with my mom. Sometimes my dad used to take me to this school. The school has a small compound where we used to play. Our uniform was blue shirt and half pant. I am talking about my lower classes. In the second phase, when I entered, that is at class 8, our uniform was grey trousers and blue shirt. We had a deep blue tie with the badge of the school. The school provided us with blazers.

Lets give you the clear picture from the start of the day. The school started with anthem. We stood in a row and attended the daily assembly. This was also done at St. Thomas' Church school. After the assembly, the classes started. Our maths teacher was U.C. Giri, our biology teacher was Somnath Ghosh. The Bengali teacher was a nice lady and helped us a lot with class notes. The English language teacher was Dipika Bhattacharya. She was really a good teacher who used to teach us with a lot of interest!
