Medieval Times in the Chicago Suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois
The castle of Medieval Times stands out incongruously in the suburban landscape of Schaumburg, Illinois. Schaumburg is a city about 25 miles west of the city of Chicago. Woodfield Shopping Mall is a well known Schaumburg Attraction. Medieval Times is right off of Interstate 90 (I-90), on
Roselle Road. I recently took a friend to the medieval castle for her birthday celebration. It was the perfect venue to celebrate a birthday. The festive atmosphere, entertainment and the clashing knights on magnificent steeds made for an unforgettable experience.
Medieval Times an 11th Century Show
Medieval Times is celebrating its 25th anniversary of showmanship and entertainment. Patrons are welcomed to the 11th Century, when royal families would invite guests to a festival and feast while watching knights compete on horseback. Medieval Times was conceived in Spain and has grown in popularity in Spain and in North America. Medieval Times prides itself on the authenticity of the weapons and costumes. The characters and story lines of the shows evolve every few years, to keep the entertainment fresh and exciting.
A Castle in Schaumburg, Illinois
The exterior of the castle stands out in suburban Schaumburg. A stone tower contrasts against the emerald green lawn. A spacious parking lot accommodates the traffic. I had a coupon for a discount that had been in the Chicago Tribune, which cut down on the ticket price. I used my savings to upgrade to the top package with priority seating in the front rows and a special CD and book. I purchased the tickets at the box office in advance. The box office is in the the same building as the castle, located at the back entrance. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone and left at "Will Call" to be picked up at the door.
